Welcome to We-R-Family.org

This post was originally created as a Shutterfly photo book for my dad’s 90th birthday on September 26, 2020. It’s a tribute to Don Reed and Caron Harley that follows them from their early family life in the 1930’s up through Caron’s death in 2008 and Don’s 90th birthday. The photo book contents are replicated here so that all who knew Don and Caron can comment and add their stories into the timeline.

As of February 2023 this post is on pause while I research new ancestral posts of interest!

Since our families shape the people that we are, the story of Caron and Don really starts with the families that they grew up in.

Don’s parents, Robert and Edith, started their family first, so that seems to be a logical start.

Robert Reed was born October 7, 1895 in Stamford, Nebraska. He was the youngest of 13 children, four of which died before the age of four years of age. Robert moved with his family around 1910 to White Rock Farm in Jewell, Kansas. It is said that Robert met Edith at a WWI soldiers social and they were married when he was discharged in 1918.

Edith Warren was born September 3, 1901 in Mankato, Jewell, Kansas, about 20 miles from White Rock Farm. Edith was the youngest of 4 children.

Robert and Edith had 6 children: Warren (12/20/1920), Mary Jane (4/23/1924), David (5/16/1929, Donald (9/26/1930), Robert (7/31/1935) and Ann (1/28/1941).

The near picture from 1942 shows Donald (in coveralls), then David, Robert, Mary Jane and Edith holding Ann. The far picture also shows Warren with his arm around his cousin Eileen Reed.
